Burnley midfielder Chris McCann admits he would love to win full international honours with the Republic of Ireland. The Dubliner was sent home by Ireland Under-21s in November 2007 for refusing to be on the bench after being named among the substitutes.
He regrets his reaction to what he considered a snub from the Under-21s coach Don Givens, and he has not been picked since.
McCann, 21, said: "What happened with the Under-21s was an immature thing for me to do but I'd love to play for Ireland at some stage.
"I have heard nothing from them since that incident. All I can do is keep working hard for Burnley and hope the situation changes."
