The 29-year-old full-back missed Saturday's 2-1 victory over local rivals Rochdale after telling manager Knill he could no longer continue playing through the pain barrier with his persistent knee problem.
Scott will now undergo surgery on Tuesday and boss Knill bemoaned the loss of the influential defender.
"That's it for Scotty, we won't see him now until next season," Knill told the club's official website. "He's had a knee problem for quite a while and has been playing with it. It's a blow for everybody."
Tyler's absence means Wayne Brown is set to return in goal, while Steven Haslam replaced Scott at the weekend and is likely to become Knill's first-choice at right-back in his absence.
