Watch Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur Live Streaming

Rooney came on as a late substitute in Tuesday's goalless Champions League draw against Internazionale which he hopes means he will be in Sir Alex Ferguson's starting line-up at Wembley. The former Everton star said: "I remember going to the old Wembley as a kid to watch Everton beat United in the FA Cup Final. "It was an amazing occasion and something that has always stuck in my mind. To play in a major Final is still a dream come true for me.

"The Carling Cup was the first trophy I won with United, in Cardiff, and something I want to win again badly. "The fact it's at such an amazing place like Wembley now obviously makes it more special. "After the Inter Milan game we were all trying to name the team for Sunday because everyone wants to play in it.

Most of Villa's key players should be raring to go after being rested for the midweek UEFA Cup clash in Moscow.

O'Neill left Gareth Barry, Brad Friedel, Emile Heskey, James Milner, Ashley Young, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Carlos Cuellar and Stiliyan Petrov at home in an attempt to have them fresh for this weekend's game.Wilfred Bouma is close to a first-team return after six months out of action with a broken ankle but will not be risked against the Potters, while Nigel Reo-Coker (hamstring) and Martin Laursen (knee) also miss out.Meanwhile, Stoke's season is starting to unravel and they go into this weekend's fixtures only two points above the drop-zone.

They have failed to win any of their 13 matches away from the Britannia Stadium this term and let two points slip out of their grasp when they conceded a stoppage-time equaliser in last weekend's 2-2 draw with Portsmouth.

Watch Hull City v Blackburn Rovers Live Streaming

Hull City and Blackburn Rovers will be involved in a vital relegation six-pointer at the KC Stadium on Sunday with both teams attempting to hit back after losing their last games. Those results left Rovers entrenched in the relegation zone - they have won only five matches so far this term - while the free-falling Tigers are now just six points above the drop-zone.

Hull's blistering start to the season is now a distant memory and, after winning six of their first nine league matches, they have tasted victory only once, against Middlesbrough, in their last 17 games.Phil Brown has admitted that inexperience has cost his team dear during that dismal run but Hull are still in a much better position than most pundits predicted last August

However, while Sam Allardyce's side pushed leaders Manchester United all the way at Old Trafford before eventually losing 2-1, the Tigers were beaten by a Tottenham side that had started Monday's game below them in the table, by the same scoreline.

Watch West Ham v Manchester City Live Streaming

Bellamy has spent as much time fielding questions about his dressing-room motivational speeches as his priceless goals since arriving at Eastlands from tomorrow's opponents West Ham.

He smiles at and laughs off any attempts to ask him exactly what it was he said to his team-mates after the hugely disappointing 2-0 defeat at Portsmouth a fortnight ago.

"It was nothing," he said. "It was as polite as I've ever been!"

At 29, the Welsh striker is used to the attention. It is tempting to suggest that he thrives on it, given that he has scored five goals in seven City appearances. He does admit that it was the chance of another shot at the big-time that tempted him to make the move north from Upton Park and link up again with his former Wales and Blackburn boss Mark Hughes.

Bellamy is open about the fact that he doesn't need the money.

Finance was never a consideration in his transfer - it was all about the challenge of helping the richest club in the world achieve their potential on the pitch.

And that is why he will be lining up at Upton Park tomorrow in a City shirt rather than the claret and blue of the Hammers.

Like all clubs, Sheffield United have a great range of songs and chants sung by their fans, including the most notable: their unofficial anthem, The Greasy Chip Butty Song.

watch Middlesbrough v Liverpool live streaming

Liverpool's first-ever competitive match was in the Lancashire League, where a predominantly Scottish team defeated Higher Walton 8-0 on 23rd September 1892.

Liverpool have maintained their status as a domestic and European force since the Premier League began in 1992, rarely finishing outside the top positions. The club have won seven major trophies since then, including the Champions League, Uefa Cup, two FA Cups and three League Cups.

Indeed, 2001 saw the Reds claim an unprecedented League Cup, FA Cup and Uefa Cup treble. Having won more domestic and European trophies than any other English club, Liverpool's status as giants of the domestic game is undisputed.

Under Rafa Benitez, Liverpool have secured Champions League football in each of the last four seasons. The Spaniard guided them to third place in the 2006/07 season and an appearance in the Champions League final where they were beaten 2-1 by AC Milan. They lost to Chelsea in the semi-finals of the competition last season and secured a fourth place finish in the league.

"There is a difference in the players," said Chelsea full-back Cole.

"When a manager goes it is always hard and the players liked him (Scolari), but now it is a fresh start for a lot of players and I think there is a different kind of belief."

Midfielder Frank Lampard hopes Chelsea can build on recent performances to re-ignite their title bid.It is just a start for us. In league terms we are not where we should be," he said."Villa was a good result for us and again we had a good result (against Juventus).

Arsenal may have been off the pace in the inaugural Premier League season in 1992/93, but they made up for it by winning both the FA and League Cups.

The Premier League crown eluded them until 1998 - two years into manager Arsene Wenger's tenure - when they did the league and FA Cup double. Under the Frenchman, the Gunners shook off their "boring" image and began to play some of the most attractive football in England.

In eight of his 12 seasons at the club, Arsenal have finished first or second. And together with star players such as Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp, Wenger took Arsenal to another "double" in 2002.

The Gunners reached the Champions' League final in 2006, becoming the first London team to do so, but lost to Barcelona. Their Barclaycard Premiership title in 2003/04 saw them become only the second team to win the league without losing a match - earning them the title "The Invincibles." Overall they went 49 matches unbeaten, which is a national record.

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill will field a shadow side for the second leg of the last-32 UEFA Cup clash with CSKA Moscow in Russia.

O'Neill has left behind stand-in skipper Gareth Barry, Brad Friedel, Emile Heskey, James Milner, Ashley Young, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Carlos Cuellar and Stiliyan Petrov as they target qualification for the Champions League by finishing in the top four of the Premier League.

"The chairman (Randy Lerner) has entrusted me in the running of the football club. This is the way I am doing it at the minute, O'Neill said.

"The Premier League, given the position we are in, is very important. Taking everything into account, we have to prioritise."

Included in the 19-man squad for the game at the the Luzhniki Stadium are six youngsters - Elliott Parish, Eric Lichaj, Ciaran Clark, Shane Lowry, Barry Bannan and Mark Albrighton - whose average age is 19 and with just one first-team appearance between them.

Hull City and Sheffield United will make several changes for their FA Cup fifth-round replay at the KC Stadium

The Tigers are likely to rest several of their first-team players ahead of the crucial Premier League clash with Blackburn, including defender Anthony Gardner, who has only recently returned to action after five months out with a thigh injury.

Kevin Kilbane is cup-tied while Matt Duke could make way for Boaz Myhill in goal.

Craig Fagan is back in training after a minor knee operation but not fit enough to return while Jimmy Bullard and George Boateng are long-term absentees.

Sheffield United will be without John-Joe O'Toole, Craig Beattie, Arturo Lupoli, Leigh Bromby and Jamie Ward, who are all cup-tied.

Goalkeeper Ian Bennett (gastroenteritis) and midfielder Brian Howard (hamstring) missed the 2-2 Championship draw at Plymouth and are unlikely to play.

Manager Kevin Blackwell also has several injury headaches to contend with.

Tottenham Hotspur will field an inexperienced, second-string line-up for the UEFA Cup last 32 second-leg clash at home to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Spurs are trailing 2-0 from the first leg and, following Monday's Premier League win at Hull City and with the Carling Cup final due to take place on Sunday, boss Harry Redknapp is prioritising domestic competition.

"I gave one 17-year-old (Dean Parrett) his debut and might have four 17-year-olds (for the second leg)," said Redknapp. "When we play the second leg it will only be half as strong as that side.

"It's a crazy schedule, six games in 17 days and all big games."

Luka Modric, Jonathan Woodgate, Wilson Palacios and Aaron Lennon were rested for the first leg and are likely to be dropped again, with Woodgate definitely out after he sustained a cut head in the 2-1 win at the KC Stadium.

Michael Dawson is expected to start though, after Redknapp said that Ledley King and Woodgate would probably play together in the Cup showdown with Manchester United at Wembley.

Carlo Cudicini has a knee injury but Redknapp was expected to continue his policy of playing Heurelho Gomes in cup matches.

watch Real Madrid v Liverpool live streaming

Liverpool's reputation for turning on the style in Europe face the acid test on Wednesday when they play on-form Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

On a night that will notably see Liverpool's domestic rivals Chelsea host Juventus, Real are looking good to strike the first blow in a two-leg encounter that gives the winners passage to the Champions League quarter-finals.

A 6-1 hammering of Real Betis on Saturday, complete with a brace apiece from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Raul moved Real to within seven points of leaders Barcelona, who suffered a shock 2-1 derby defeat against Espanyol.

Despite Liverpool traditionally coming out fighting in Europe whatever their progress at home - an approach which led them to 2005 Champions League victory and a UEFA Cup title in 2001 - nine-time European champions Real are brimming with confidence.

While most Real players know the Reds are a far bigger threat than Betis, midfielder Rafael Van der Vart believes the Merseysiders will be running scared.

"We're Real Madrid, which is why I think Liverpool are frightened of us," said van der Vaart.

"We are working hard to be in perfect shape. We're anxious to do well in Europe, and I will do anything to win the Champions League."

Just how much Liverpool's latest Premier League setback affects their self-belief ahead of a first leg in which scoring a precious away goal could be crucial to their plans remains to be seen.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich a friendly handshake at their Champions League clash even though the Russian sacked him in 2004.

Ranieri was Blues boss when Abramovic bought the club in 2003 but was fired at the end of the season despite leading Chelsea to the Champions League semi-final and a second-placed Premier League finish.

The Italian, currently manager of Juventus, has insisted that he holds no hard feelings towards Abramovich ahead of their match at Stamford Bridge.

"Of course I will shake his hand," said Ranieri. "The last time I saw him was in the dressing room and he told me this would always be home to me.

"Even if we had won (the Champions League), I knew that my days were numbered - but I actually liked that.

"I never gave up, and that is part and parcel of my character. I don't think I've written much in the pages of history while I was here, though they were wonderful years."

Blues midfielder Frank Lampard, meanwhile, hailed the effect of the man who signed him on the club's legacy.

"He should take credit," said Lampard. "He brought a lot of important players to the team.

West Ham youngster James Tomkins has told Gianfranco Zola he is ready to step in for James Collins after the Wales defender was ruled out for a month.

Collins injured a hamstring in the defeat to Bolton at the weekend and Tomkins came on, and the 19-year-old could start at Middlesbrough in the FA Cup fifth-round replay.

"Obviously 'Ginge' (Collins) has been doing very well when he has been playing but maybe there is going to be a chance for me," Tomkins said.

"You obviously feel for the lad and hope he's not going to be out for too long because he's been doing really well for us. If I get my chance I've got to take it, but no place is guaranteed at the moment."

The Hammers lost at Bolton and Tomkins is determined to give the boss Zola (pictured) a boost with a cup win.

"In the dressing room everyone was down but we've got to pick ourselves up again quickly because we've got this game," he said.

"We have to look back at it quickly, look at the errors that we made and obviously carry on from there because we've got a big game coming up."

watch Internazionale v Manchester United live streaming

Sir Alex Ferguson reckons Manchester United's hopes of seeing off Inter Milan in the Champions League rest on their result in the San Siro. While Jose Mourinho confidently predicts the clash between the runaway league leaders in Italy and England will go to extra-time at Old Trafford in a fortnight, Ferguson is looking at a far more rapid conclusion.

And that means an injury-hit United side grabbing a priceless away goal.

"I don't think it will go to extra-time - it will be decided on Tuesday," said Ferguson.

"If we score we will have a great chance."

Not that Ferguson is dismissing Inter. Mourinho has only lost one of 12 head-to-head duels with the Scot, so that would be a foolhardy move.

And while the United chief has previously concluded Barcelona are the major obstacle to continued English domination of the competition, he recognises the contest facing his team would not have looked out of place in Rome on May 27.

"At this moment in time you cannot split the teams," he said.

"Inter have won Serie A three times in a row and are going to win it for a fourth time. They have experience; they have a really outstanding manager and some terrific footballers.

"It is a really big game. It would have been a great final."

Among the visitors to see United go through their paces at the San Siro on Monday night was David Beckham, currently on loan at AC Milan from Los Angeles Galaxy.

Beckham spent a happy hour with the Red Devils when he was reunited with Ferguson, patching up the differences that saw him leave Old Trafford for Real Madrid six years ago.

The former England captain then headed to United's team hotel, where he met former team-mates Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.

Also at training was Nemanja Vidic.

Vidic's presence was a reminder of how damaging his dismissal at the Club World Cup in Japan could turn out to be.

Vidic is banned for one game, his normal stand-in Jonny Evans was also a bystander having aggravated an ankle injury during Saturday's win over Blackburn, while Rafael da Silva did not even make the journey after suffering a similar knock against Sam Allardyce's men.

In addition, Wes Brown and Gary Neville are longer-term absentees, leaving Ferguson desperately hoping John O'Shea shrugs off the heel injury that kept him out at the weekend or Evans makes a miraculous recovery knowing unless they both make it, either Fabio Da Silva or Darren Fletcher will be required to fill the right-back berth.

"My options? I panic!" said Ferguson, only half-jokingly when asked what he would do if both his Irishmen were ruled out.

"I suppose I could play Dimitar Berbatov as a sweeper."

Ferguson's problem is compounded by his opinion that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is Inter's best player, if not quite the world's best as Mourinho boldly claimed a couple of months ago.

The Swede has often failed to do himself justice on the biggest stage. But this season has been Ibrahimovic's best so far, which was threatening to cause the Red Devils a problem even before their defence was ripped apart.

"Without question, Ibrahimovic is their star player," said Ferguson.

"I have watched him for many years now. He has developed and is at an age now where you expect a bit of maturity. He is getting all the praise he deserves."

The mutual respect that exists between Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo would not stop the Inter boss using a weakness in his fellow countryman's armoury just now to get an advantage for his team.

Yet Ferguson is unconcerned about any attempt to wind Ronaldo up, feeling he must trust the 23-year-old, who has shown flashes of temper and frustration far too often

watch Arsenal v Roma live streaming

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted to sharing Robin van Persie's frustrations over the club's trophy drought in recent seasons.Van Persie expressed his unhappiness last week at the club's failure to collect any silverware since the 2005 FA Cup win and, far from being annoyed by the Dutchman's comments, Wenger shares the sentiment.

The Frenchman conceded every season without a title felt like a "failure" and wants to keep his squad together to reverse the trend.

The Gunners host Roma in the first leg of their last 16 Champions League tie on Tuesday night and - with the Premier League title now out of sight - that competition, as well as the FA Cup, provides the best opportunity to collect silverware this term.

"I feel that every time I don't win something I view that as a failure," said Wenger.

"I am here to win and give my best every time. Robin, too, is completely focused.

"He is motivated to do it, like the rest of the team. He knows he is at the right age to win trophies and he sees we have the potential to do it. He is, I must say, highly focused.

"What drives me personally is to be as good as I can. Sometimes to get the best out of the team, you sit down at the end of the season and think 'did I do it or not? Did I take the best out of the team or not?' I try to be as objective as I can.

"But you have to accept in Europe there are 20 massive clubs and there are 19 disappointed at the end of the season.

"Let's hope it is the other 19 who are disappointed this season."

As for retaining the services of his top players, the highly-rated Van Persie included, Wenger called for all the club's stars to buy into his footballing philosophy.

"It's important to keep the team together whatever happens, it's important to educate the players," he said.

"You feel after four or five years they will be more of a team than players who have been bought on the market and put together.

"I believe that is why we have followed this policy.

"We want to have values in our side that are more than players being brought together on the market and just saying 'let's win trophies and parade them'.

"We want a different ideal for the game and for our football. No matter what happens it's very important for the players to stay together."

Gunners full-back Bacary Sagna is another who is focused on winning a trophy before the season is out and insists that a European triumph is one of the squad's most coveted prizes.

"Last season we were close to doing something good. We missed out and now we want to play 100%," said Sagna.

"We know we can go far in this Champions League and we will try to do it. From childhood we wanted to play in this kind of competition. As a professional player this is our chance to do something and when we have this opportunity, we will give everything.

"The fans love football and they wish to see their team winning all the time and scoring goals. But they have to understand we are human first and we give everything."

Defender Garry Monk has been ruled out of Swansea's FA Cup fifth-round replay against Fulham on Tuesday night.Influential skipper Monk, who also missed the 3-1 Championship win over Doncaster at the weekend, has failed to recover in time from a back problem and will again miss out.

Midfielder Joe Allen is doubtful for Swansea after he picked up a thigh strain in that game and faces a late fitness test.

However, boss Roberto Martinez has been boosted by midfielder Jordi Gomez and defender Owain Tudur-Jones both coming through the weekend unscathed despite suffering slight knocks, and both should be fit to face to the Cottagers.

Striker Gorka Pintado is still about a fortnight away from a return and will miss the clash due to his hernia problems, while the Swans are also hampered by long-term injuries to Darren Pratley, Ferrie Bodde and Marcos Painter.

Martinez's side, who are ninth in the Championship, will face Manchester United should they see of Fulham.

Kick-off 8pm.

watch Lyon v Barcelona live streaming

Lyon took advantage of Paris St Germain's goalless draw at Grenoble to move six points clear at the top of Ligue 1 with a 2-0 win at Nancy on Saturday night.

A first-half header from Cris and Karim Benzema's breakaway goal in stoppage time handed Lyon victory.

The champions, though, also had keeper Hugo Lloris to thank for saving Youssouf Hadji's penalty five minutes after the break, and keeping out the rebound.

Lyon now have a six-point cushion over second-placed PSG, who could not find a way past Grenoble.

Toulouse also lost ground on the leaders after they too were held 0-0, at home by Valenciennes, and are now seven points adrift in third.

At the other end of the table Auxerre pulled six points clear of the relegation zone with a welcome 2-1 win at the expense of Le Havre.

AJA took the lead after just 40 seconds through Thomas Kahlenberg but the basement boys levelled eight minutes before the break thanks to Jean-Michel Lesage.

Le Havre, 10 points adrift of safety after Saturday's games, actually had the better of the second half but the sucker punch came 12 minutes from time when Valter Birsa finished off a slick Auxerre move.

Sochaux captured their first away league success of the campaign and moved a step closer to safety as Mevlut Erding's last-minute winner earned them a 2-1 victory at Lorient.

Czech midfielder Vaclav Sverkos had earlier cancelled out Kevin Gameiro's opener for Lorient.

Nantes drew 1-1 at home to fellow strugglers Caen, Christian Bekamenga equalising a minute before the break for the hosts.

Anthony Deroin had given Caen a fourth-minute lead.

Olivier Thomert's second-half strike earned Rennes a 1-0 victory at Nice.

Hull have won more league games against Tottenham than vice versa: Hull have six wins, Spurs five.

The two sides have not drawn a game since February 1954, almost exactly 55 years ago.

Hull have gone nine games without a win - only Middlesbrough (13) are on a longer run currently.

Hull have taken only two points from their last eight games - no team in any of Europe's top five leagues (England, Germany, France, Italy and Spain) have taken fewer than in their last eight outings.

Hull have been caught offside more than any other team this season: 95 times.

Hull have been saved by their own woodwork 14 times this season, more than any other team.

David Bentley has averaged 11 crosses per game this season, more than any other player in the top flight.

Tottenham are the only Premier League club not have named an unchanged line-up this season.

Darren Bent has scored four goals as a substitute this season, more than any other player this season.

Hull have only won in one of the 10 games in which defender Andy Dawson (pictured) has not played this season.

Craig Fagan will miss Monday's game against Tottenham after undergoing minor knee surgery.

Striker Daniel Cousin is available again recovering from his own minor knee operation while captain Ian Ashbee has overcome a calf problem.

Kevin Kilbane returns to face Spurs after being cup-tied for last week's FA Cup trip to Sheffield United but midfielder Ryan France (thigh) is doubtful.

Matt Duke is set to be restored in goal ahead of Boaz Myhill.

Hull boss Phil Brown claims Tottenham have a right to expect "fantastic football" from their players - but is determined to stop them on Monday.

Spurs' problems this season have been well documented, the club struggling to pull away from the bottom of the Barclays Premier League despite a relative wealth of resources.

They have shown their capabilities by reaching the Carling Cup final for a second successive season but are still not clear of relegation danger.

Hull are four points better off but Brown is wary of the threat Harry Redknapp's men pose.

"We know what the players are capable of," said Brown.

"As a group, we went to watch Tottenham play Stoke - and in the first half they played some fantastic football. But if you look at their squad, they are entitled to."

Fiorentina will be hoping Adrian Mutu can maintain his goalscoring form when they host Ajax in Thursday's UEFA Cup last-32 showdown.

Mutu's second-half hat-trick allowed the Viola to come back from 3-0 down to draw with Genoa on Sunday and hold onto fourth place in Serie A.

The Romanian forward has struck 11 league goals this season but has surprisingly struggled to find the target in European competition.

Mutu scored just once in the Champions League group stages as Fiorentina failed to advance to the last 16.

"My hope is to continue to score and improve," said Mutu. "I want to win something important with Fiorentina.

"We came close last season and I think we have shown lately we are a team that can win against any difficult opponent."

The Viola reached the semi-finals of the competition last term only to lose 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw at Rangers.

The Italians will fancy their chances against Ajax as they have not lost in four previous encounters against Dutch opposition.

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli welcomes back midfielder Felipe Melo, who missed the draw with Genoa through suspension.

Alberto Gilardino, who is the team's top scorer in Europe with four goals, will partner Mutu up front.

Ajax will be keen to keep their UEFA Cup run going for as long as possible having already been knocked out of the domestic KNVB Beker, while their Eredivisie campaign has also come off the rails.

A run of one win in five matches has seen the Amsterdam club slip down to third, 12 points behind leaders AZ Alkmaar.

Coach Marco van Basten's task in Florence has been complicated by a string of injuries, however.

Hodgson, sensing the potential of a first final appearance since the 1975 defeat to West Ham, is not a happy man - and although Fulham are comfortably in mid-table at present, he hinted the Baggies encounter must take priority.

"It bothers me why we have to play on Sunday and again the following Tuesday," he said.

"Our chances of getting through against Swansea have been severely hampered. That turnaround has given our opponents a big advantage.

"I cannot say I am particularly delighted about the situation at all.

"We will have to concentrate on West Brom and then do our best against Swansea. But I wouldn't be putting too much money on the result."

Hodgson knew his team would be up against it at Manchester United last night once they lost Andrew Johnson and Paul Konchesky to injury before the game.

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has attacked the fixture schedule that threatens to derail his side's FA Cup bid.

The Cottagers host Swansea in a fifth-round replay on Tuesday for the right to host last night's opponents Manchester United for a place in the last four.

However, that game comes just 48 hours after a Premier League encounter with West Brom.

Ordinarily, Fulham would not have expected to play again until the Wednesday. But that has been ruled out because of Chelsea's Champions League match with Juventus at Stamford Bridge.

It is not entirely obvious why the replay could not have been scheduled for the Thursday - or even March 7, the date reserved for the quarter-finals, when Arsenal's fifth-round meeting with Burnley has been pushed back to.

Wayne Rooney will start for Manchester United as the Red Devils look to extend their lead at the Premier League summit to eight points by beating Blackburn at Old Trafford.

Rooney made his comeback from a hamstring injury as a goalscoring substitute against Fulham on Wednesday and Sir Alex Ferguson intends to find out whether the striker is fit enough to face Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday.

More changes are expected as well, with Ferguson set to call on Ryan Giggs, Darren Fletcher and Rafael, with Edwin van der Sar looking to set a new European record with a 15th consecutive clean sheet. John O'Shea (heel) is a minor doubt.

Record-breaking United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has no intention of abandoning a lifelong refusal to start worrying about what his rivals are doing.

The veteran Dutchman kept his 14th consecutive Premier League clean sheet against former club Fulham on Wednesday night.

If he keeps Blackburn out for 89 minutes of tomorrow's Old Trafford encounter, it would represent the longest barren streak in European top flight history, breaking the record set by former Club Brugge stopper Dany Verlinden in 1990.

While Van der Sar is clearly keen to maintain his staggering run, the 38-year-old is more concerned by adding trophies to his collection.

His focus this weekend will therefore be on Blackburn, not Chelsea's visit to Aston Villa earlier in the day or Liverpool's encounter with Manchester City 24 hours later.

"Footballers have to be strong," he said. "Seeing their rivals win won't stop their determination.

"I'm not blaming the pitch, but it's just a poor pitch," he said. "That's what you will get out here this time of year. You wouldn't play on a non-league pitch like that."

Redknapp has left five senior players at home as he prepares for a "crazy" fixture pile-up.

Spurs have the Carling Cup final on March 1 so the last-32 first-leg clash at RSK Olimpiyskyi is not Redknapp's priority.

Redknapp has left the likes of Jonathan Woodgate and Luka Modric in London as a result. Aaron Lennon, Carlo Cudicini and Wilson Palacios were not risked either, while Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe, Vedran Corluka and Roman Pavlyuchenko are cup-tied.

Eight youngsters have travelled to Donetsk and 17-year-old Dean Parrett could start against the Ukrainian champions.

"It's crazy the way they have piled the fixtures," Redknapp said. "After this we've got three weeks between every game."

Kilmarnock were forced to settle for a share of the points in the inaugural game at the Greenhill Road venue, before Saints were unfortunate to be held by Falkirk last week.

MacPherson knows the lack of wins will quickly become an issue if the situation is not rectified quickly and has targeted victory against Mark McGhee's men after taking the fifth-round tie back to Paisley.

"The longer you have to wait for it, the more people start talking about it," he admitted.

"We've only had two games here and drawn them both so, if you were being positive, you would say we are undefeated.

"The most important thing is that we are playing well, we are playing with confidence.

"I would be more concerned if there was a lack of confidence in the dressing room but they are a confident group of players with a real determination about them at the moment."

He added: "The players are settling in fine. I don't think they can complain about anything but, knowing what players are like, they probably will complain!

"It's night and day compared to what they had at Love Street. They are adapting to the surface well.

"They had half a dozen training sessions before the games and the players did comment that it was better playing on the pitch against Falkirk than it was against Kilmarnock. They are adapting to it and enjoying it."

The Saints players may be enjoying their new surroundings but MacPherson fears the brand new surface may also benefit Motherwell, whose own Fir Park pitch is currently in a dreadful state.

He said: "We are hoping home advantage will count for us but we know that isn't going to have a great bearing on it, considering what the Motherwell guys are playing on at Fir Park.

"They will be looking forward to coming here and Mark McGhee has already said that so we will have to contend with that.

Rooney has missed seven games since limping out of the home win over Wigan with a hamstring strain.

Sir Alex Ferguson opted to leave him out of the squad for Sunday's FA Cup trip to Derby, a decision that has proved to be a wise one.

It allowed Rooney to get an extra day's training under his belt that should ensure he plays some part against Roy Hodgson's men, even if Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov are expected to be handed the starting spots in attack.

"The plan is for Wayne Rooney to be involved tomorrow night and he will start on the bench," Ferguson told Key103.

"We have handled him in the right way.

"He is training now. His performances have been excellent and he is back to his best.

"The decision not to involve him on Sunday was a good one because he was able to train and that extra day has brought him on a lot."

Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Michael Carrick are among the other big names who return following the win at Derby, while Edwin van der Sar looks to complete an incredible 14th consecutive Premier League clean sheet.

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson will give late fitness tests to Paul Konchesky and Andy Johnson as both players have been struggling with muscle strains.

Dickson Etuhu is still out with the knee injury he sustained against Wigan, meaning on-loan Internazionale midfielder Olivier Dacourt should continue in midfield.
