The former Manchester United trainee could yet be forced to serve a further suspension, with the FA investigating an allegation Wellens spat at Swans midfielder Leon Britton in the first half of the game at the Liberty Stadium.
However, boss Sean O'Driscoll is hoping he will be able to call on the services of midfielder James Coppinger (concussion) and centre-half Matt Mills (groin/knee). Both players came through training on Thursday and will be re-assessed ahead of the game.
Wellens was dismissed for two bookable offences in last weekend's 3-1 defeat to Swansea and will serve a one-match ban as a result.
